About Wild Tunes
Wild Tunes is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to soothing shelter animals through live music. Founded in 2023 by Yuvi Agarwal, an animal lover and musician at the age of 10, Wild Tunes’ mission is to enrich the lives of homeless animals by encouraging volunteers to routinely play musical instruments at participating shelters to help pets relax and prepare them for fostering and adoption.
We hope you will join us as a volunteer, shelter partner, community partner, or donor.
The idea for Wild Tunes began when Yuvi noticed how his music calmed his dog, Bozo, and he wanted to bring the same soothing experience to shelter animals. In the spring of 2023, he officially launched Wild Tunes, which is now a valued part of volunteer programs at several Houston-area shelters.
Yuvi hopes to inspire more people—both children and adults—to use their musical talents to make a meaningful impact on the lives of shelter animals by helping them rebuild their relationships with humans. It’s a positive, rewarding activity that provides practice for musicians, service hours for students, and, most importantly, comfort for animals—truly a win-win for everyone involved.
Wild Tunes is honored that Houston City Council Member Abbie Kamin recognized founder Yuvi Agarwal at City Hall. As an animal advocate, Council Member Kamin knows the importance of helping homeless pets.
Penelope was rescued from being euthanized due to a skin infection. She was anxious and was not receptive to being around humans. After hearing Yuvi play for some time, she warmed up to him and became playful. She was ready to play. Eventually, a very happy Penelope found her furever home.
Nancy Francis, Cellist.
Nancy began playing at BARC in the spring of 2024, recalling her many practice sessions with Dobermans at her feet. She strives to help the BARC dogs relax and to provide a pleasant atmosphere for the dogs, staff, volunteers, and potential adopters.
Drew became a Wild Tunes volunteer to overcome his grief of losing his Great Dane. He ended up fostering and then adopting Blondie from BARC.
“I was grieving the loss of my Great Dane, Titan, and love dogs but didn’t want to commit to that inevitable loss again. I decided volunteering at the shelter was a great way to still be able to experience dogs, without the commitment, and help them be more comfortable with their stay! Then Wild Tunes came along, and I was able to combine my love for dogs with my love for guitar and play for the animals. Someone saw what I was doing and tagged me in a video of this poor girl dog shaking and they said, “I think she needs some tunes by Drew.” I went and played for Blondie two days and the next day she was scheduled for euthanasia… I couldn’t let that happen so… I fostered for the first time ever. Then I fell in love with her, and it was a total foster failure, but she has a forever home now and I have a new best friend!”
